Romanesque Churches of Taboada

San Pedro de Bembibre

National Monument (1191). Notable for its Baroque altarpiece, monastic pulpit, and ornate symbolic portals.

Santa María de Castelo

A 12th-century church blending a Romanesque triumphal arch with 18th-century Baroque features.

San Xián do Campo

Of Romanesque origin, featuring a main portal with archivolts and a classic checkered-molding apse window.

Santa María de Piñeira

A 13th-century church of monastic proportions. It houses one of the most significant "baldaquinos" in Galicia.

Sta. Mª de Taboada dos Freires

Commissioned by the Knights Templar in 1190. The main tympanum depicts the biblical scene of Samson and the lion.

Santa Mariña de Cerdeda

Preserves its original Romanesque structure, featuring unique exterior corbels ("canzorros") with carved figures.

San Xoán de Bouzoa

Former seat of ecclesiastical power. Its east-wall window is a quintessential example of rural Romanesque style.
